CFD Numerical Investigation of a New Solar Flat Air-Collector Having Different Obstacles with Various Configurations and Arrangements

This work deals with a numerical parametric optimization study of new Solar Flat Air Collector (SFAC) configuration. The CFD investigates various SFAC structures inside the air cavity without obstacles and spherical, cubic, cylindrical, pyramidal obstacles. optimizes most convenient configuration arrangement that allow for increase heat-transfer surface to make flow homogeneous in order generate turbulence zones cavity. result shows thermal performances cubic form are close those spherical Another set simulations was performed evaluate shape baffles three orientation angles equal 0°, 22.5°, 45°, respectively. Each has forms relative roughness pitch (b/a) varying between 2, 4, 6. results simulation showed pitch, Reynolds number, as well angle influence performance operation SFAC. combination an 45° b/a = 2 increases performances, which can reach 85%.
